Circlefest for the 3rd Graders - 5-27-2010

Today the third graders got to celebrate their hard work for the year in a celebration of games and raffles and treats. Jeff and I got to be there and we ran a musical chairs kind of game. We got to dance to the music and watch our Syd celebrate the year with her friends.

Honor Reader Celebration 5-26-2010

To celebrate all the Honor Readers at school the school invited the kids to watch The Tale of Despereaux and have a drink, popcorn and cake. It was nice of the school to celebrate the kids that have worked hard to reach their goals.

Field Day at School -5-24-2010

Today the kids had Field Day at school where they got to play about 17 different games outside on the field. They seemed to have fun even though it was super hot outside.

 

Strawberry Pickin' 5-22-2010

We went on our annual trip to pick strawberries this afternoon. We were a little early in the season but the strawberries were still good and it wasn't as hot! The kids are, I think, almost past wanting to do this kind of stuff with us. One clue would be the impromptu Frisbee game while dear old dad picked the berries! 

Makes me sad but we'll find other things to do together.

We made Strawberry Shortcake and Strawberry Ice-cream with our pickings and still had some left over. 

While up at the patch we stopped by their store and had some of their homemade ice-cream and it was yummy!

Jared's Soccer game 5-22-2010

Jared's team pulled off another win today. Winning 3-2. Jared was a little upset because he didn't score but he did great. Tons of assists and attempts and great defensive moves. He just really enjoys playing the game and wants to do well!

Sydney's Soccer Game 5-22-2010

Sydney's team did not win their game today but they tried. The coach is trying really hard to get the girls to be more aggressive but they would rather stand and talk about who just pushed who, or who just got tripped and this is all while the game is still being played (LOL). Syd is improving though and she is still enjoying it! GO Sydney!

Jared's Field Trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 5-20-2010

Jared's 4th Grade class went on a field trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today and Jeff got to go with them. They first stopped by, I believe, Dixon-Williams Racing Shop where the guys showed them some stuff and a trailer they take to all the races.

They got to sit in one of the cars and then they had lunch.

After lunch they all went to the Speedway and got to sit just behind pit row and watch the cars and drivers go around the oval.

They also got to meet some of the drivers, Jared actually got a autograph from Helio.

Jeff and Jared both came home with a lot of stories and stars in their eyes. Jared said it was his favorite field EVER!

Jared's 5th Soccer game Brazil vs. England 5-15-2010

Jared played a soccer game this morning and it was a hard fought battle.

The team we played had some overly aggressive players and we had a referee that wasn't calling anything. Jared still managed to get his goal he challenged himself to get. The team scored 3 altogether but England won with 7. Hopefully we learned some good lessons.

Sydney's 5th Soccer game - Scotland vs. Australia 5-15-2010

Sydney played her 5th soccer game this morning and she is still liking it.

AWESOME.

The kids did not win their game but it was fun to watch them. Syd still prefers to be a forward but will play defense. But does not want to even try goalie - "Too much pressure."

F.A.R.M Field Trip 5-14-2010

Every year the firefighters at Jeff's firehouse graciously invite the 1st graders at Jared and Sydney's school to the firehouse for a tour of the station,

a chance to use the fire hose on the fire truck,

repel down some stairs and rescue a "baby",

and run a obstacle course.

Not to mention playing on the apron and in the side yard, trying on fire gear and eating lunch in the bay.

The kids always seem to have a lot of fun and it's fun watching their faces light up when they see something they think is cool.

Roses in the backyard 5-14-2010

So I'm a little bit infatuated with the roses in the backyard.

Right now they are really pretty and smell wonderful.

It won't be long before they wither away! Sigh.

Jared's 4th Soccer Game - Brazil vs. Poland - 5-8-2010

Jared's team won again this week.

Jared is awesome at soccer and he loves it.

He doesn't even mind that his Dad is the coach and his Mom is a nut yelling for him!

Sydney's 4th Soccer Game - Scotland vs. Ireland - 5-8-2010

We finally won a game - GO SCOTLAND!

Syd continues to improve and be (mostly) fearless.

This Saturday was freezing - literally - and the kids stuck it out and played a good game and it took all day for our noses to unfreeze! (LOL)

More flowers in the yard - Yay! 5-7-2010

I love how the roses smell in the backyard and they are pretty too!

Floweres are Blooming

Took a walk around the house and some of our floweres are starting to bloom! Yay!

Sydney's 3rd Soccer Game - Scotland vs. Nigeria 5-1-2010

Sydney played her 3rd soccer game this morning and she did a really good job and scored her first goal, it was awesome! So far she is loving soccer and we have our fingers crossed that it will remain that way. Her team did not win this week, we had to give 3 of our players to the other team and our own team member scored against us. Nuts! Maybe next week.

Jared's 3rd Soccer Game Brazil vs. Netherlands 5-1-2010

Jared played his 3rd soccer game this morning and the weather was a little bit better but still overcast and rainy. Jared got another goal and an assist this week and we actually won this week. GO Brazil!

The Best Nest 5-1-2010

Jeff put a birdhouse on the fence post for me and it looks like we finally have a little Wren that is going to make it their house. Yay!
